Russia Proposes Payment For Bangladesh Trade Settlements In Indian Rupees

Bangladesh runs a substantial Rupee trade deficit with India, but doesn't trade such huge amounts with Russia. Consequently, to get around the Bangladesh-Russia trade imbalance and mitigate against threatened US sanctions on Dhaka, the two sides are discussing the use of Indian Rupees rather than the Bangladesh Taka to settle their mutual trade volumes of about US$2 billion per annum.
