Belarus To Assemble Tractors In Myanmar

Belarus

Following last week’s visit of Myanmar Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing to Moscow, spin off trade and investment ties with Belarus appear to have also been on the agenda, with the Minsk Tractor Works (MTW) announcing plans to set up an assembly production line of their tractors under the Belarus brand in Myanmar.

A Myanmar delegation took a side trip to Minsk and a memorandum on organizing assembly production of Belarus tractors in Myanmar was signed on March 6 by MTW General Director Sergei Avramenko as part of the Belarus-Myanmar business forum. The project is expected to be implemented between 2026 and 2029.

In the interim period, a contract was signed with Myanmar for supplying Belarus 451, 522 and 820 tractors to Myanmar. The Minsk Tractor Works is one of the largest producers of tractors and agricultural machinery in the CIS.

Myanmar’s agriculture sector is a crucial economic pillar, contributing significantly to GDP, employment, and exports, with rice being the primary agricultural product.
