Russia’s pivot to Asia has taken another unique turn by sending bulk cargo to Malaysia, in southeast Asia, from Moscow vi Vladivostok for the first time.
Russia’s FESCO Transport organised the transhipment of technical fat cargo in Flexitanks at the Bely Rast terminal in Russia’s Moscow region. From Bely Rast, the first shipment departed via container train to Vladivostok, where on arrival, the containers were transferred to ship, transited via Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and onto the final destination, Malaysia’s Pasir Gudang port, close to Singapore. The entire route took 32 days, and is intended to become a regular service, created specifically for Russian farmers.

To do so, FESCO added Malysia’s Pasir Gudang Port to its portfolio to expand the geography of the regular line between Malaysia and Vietnam – the FESCO Intra Asia Service (FIAS).
Russia is currently Malaysia’s ninth-largest trading partner among European nations and ranks 28th globally, with a bilateral trade value of US$2.48 billion in 2024.
