FESCO Ships Equipment From Mumbai To Kaliningrad For New Food Production Plant

RussiaAsia

Russia’s FESCO Transport Group has been making shipments of equipment in specialized Flat Rack containers to the Kaliningrad region from the Indian port of Mundra, Mumbai. The oversized cargo is intended for the construction of a new food production plant in Kaliningrad.

Three shipments have already been delivered, with a total volume of 64 TEU. International transportation was organised through the regular FESCO Baltorient Line (FBOL), which provides sea transportation between China, India and St. Petersburg, from where the equipment was transferred to another container ship and delivered to the Kaliningrad region by the FESCO Saint Petersburg Kaliningrad Line (FSKL) coaster service.

Leonid Shlyakhturov, Executive Director of FESCO Integrated Transport, said that “India is the second largest supplier of production equipment to Russia, as well as being a major importer of Russian mining and construction machinery. Volumes are growing. Against the background of an increase in cargo turnover between Russia and India, we note an increased interest in the transportation of oversized cargo using specialized containers. Our own equipment and modern facilities allow FESCO to carry out large-scale projects and find ways to optimize transportation times.”

FESCO launched the FBOL service in 2023, becoming the first Russian transport company to carry out transportation between the ports of China, India and St. Petersburg through the Suez Canal using its own assets and without calling at European ports. The route of the line covers the key Chinese ports of Qingdao, Lianyungang, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantan, as well as the Indian ports of Navasheva and Mundra.

In addition, FBOL is connected to ports in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and other Asian countries via a feeder service. The service is serviced by six modern container ships of the same type with a capacity of about 2,500 TEU each.
