Russia-Azerbaijan Bilateral Trade Up 2.5% In 2025

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia amounted to US$4.92 billion in 2025, up 2.5% compared to the previous year, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC) has stated. Trade operations with Russia accounted for 9.96% of the country’s total foreign trade turnover, the SCC said. Russia is Azerbaijan’s third largest foreign trade partner after Italy and Turkiye.

Exports of Azerbaijani products to Russia amounted to US$1.184 billion in 2025 (+0.5%). Overall, supplies to Russia accounted for 4.73% of Azerbaijani exports. Russia is also the largest buyer of Azerbaijani non-oil products. Azerbaijan’s supplies to Russia last year amounted to $1.174 billion (+1%), with a share of 32.37%. Russia ranks third among the countries to which Azerbaijani products are exported.

Azerbaijan imported goods from Russia worth US$3.736 billion in 2025, up 3.2%, with Russian supplies accounting for 15.33% of total imports. Russia is the second largest importer to Azerbaijan in physical terms after China. According to the SCC data, Azerbaijan’s trade balance in exports and imports with Russia amounted to US$2.552 billion in Russia’s favour. Overall bilateral agricultural trade has grown, with Russia exporting significant amounts of wheat, sunflower oil, and sugar, while Azerbaijan’s key exports to Russia include tomatoes, fruits (such as persimmons and apples), and hazelnuts. This growth trend is likely to continue as improved road, rail and shipping connectivity boosts trade, including the use of the INSTC transport network.  

In 2024, Azerbaijani-Russian trade turnover reached US$4.8 billion, up 10.1% compared to 2023.
