Scientific organizations and business representatives from Russia and China have agreed to implement joint projects in scientific and technological support for the agricultural sector, in particular in pedigree poultry farming, the Russian Agriculture Ministry has stated.

Agreements were signed during a visit in China by a Russian delegation led by the Agriculture Ministry’s advisor, Olga Abramova.

In particular, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Russia’s GenBioTech from Kazan, and Beijing Glbizzia Biotechnology. The companies will work on a broiler chicken crossbreeding program, covering process optimization and disease prevention and increasing the animals’ productive lifespan.

In addition, the Timiryazev Academy, the National Poultry Farmers Union, the Harbin Leshi Agricultural Science and Technology Company, and the Beijing Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences signed an agreement to create a scientific genetics and breeding platform in pedigree poultry farming. It will facilitate the development of cooperation in education and research activities.

Abramova said that “Joint initiatives and projects in these areas will make Russian-Chinese cooperation even more effective, opening new opportunities for strengthening the two countries’ scientific and technological potential.” Global poultry consumption is experiencing significant growth, with production projected to reach 151.4 million metric tons in 2025, making it the most consumed animal protein worldwide due to its affordability and efficiency.
