Russia made record revenues of almost US$62 million from the export of oats in 2025, compared with US$59.3 million in 2024, the Agroexport federal centre has said.
The weight of the exports exceeded 280,000 tonnes. The biggest importer was China, which purchased over US$56 million of oats from Russia, followed by Mongolia with around US$4 million and the UAE with over US$600,000.
According to preliminary data from Rosstat, Russia harvested 3.8 million tonnes of oats in 2025, up 25.8% from 2024. Yield grew to 22.7 centners per hectare from 19 the year before.
The biggest oat harvests were 538,600 tonnes in the Altai territory, 352,100 tonnes in the Krasnoyarsk territory, 242,300 tonnes in the Novosibirsk region, 199,200 tonnes in the Tyumen region and 179,700 tonnes in Bashkortostan.
Global oat consumption is growing, driven by health trends, plant-based diets, and awareness of benefits like fiber, although significant amounts also go to animal feed. Major producers and consumers include the EU, Canada, Russia, and the United States, with oat milk and various oat-based products fueling demand. The market sees innovation in oat processing for better nutrition and new products, despite competition from other grains.
