Russia is a major supplier of pork to Vietnam and expects to increase supplies, while another major trade area is grain, the exports of which to the Vietnamese market need to be developed, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut has said.
She stated that “Pork supplies to Vietnam are increasing every year. We are one of the leaders among pork suppliers to Vietnam. We hope to increase our cooperation in this area. The second area that needs to be developed is the supply of grain.”
Lut has been participating in discussions that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has been holding with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Moscow this week.
According to data from the Agroexport Federal Center, Russia exported 7,000 tonnes of pork to Vietnam in January-February this year. While it is Europeans who consume the most pork per capita worldwide, Vietnam is the largest per capita consumer in Asia.
