Exports of pork by-products to North Korea reached 4,500 tonnes in 2025, which is six times more than in 2024. Russia began supplying pork to the country in 2024. In January 2026, exports of pork by-products continued, with over 760 tonnes shipped, worth more than US$860,000.

The exports suggest a growing consumer base in North Korea. Russian export revenues to North Korea increased 5.5-fold to over US$3.6 million.

North Korea’s GDP continued to recover in 2025, with 3.7% growth driven by increased trade with China, closer economic cooperation with Russia, and strong, state-led industrial output, following a similar expansion in 2024.
