Over the past three years, Russia has increased fertilizer supplies to African countries by 50%, to 1.9 million tonnes by the end of 2024, according to Maxim Kuznetsov, the CEO of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers (RAPU).
He said that “Over the past 3 years, we have increased supplies to African countries by 50%, to 1.9 million tons in 2024. And we will continue to support African countries in building food sovereignty. The potential of the African agro-industrial complex is huge. A sharp increase in agricultural production on the continent is possible due to the effective use of mineral fertilizers.”
According to him, Russia retains a leading position in the export of mineral fertilizers on the world market and ranks second in their production, surpassing the United States and India. Since 2013, fertilizer exports from Russia to other countries have increased by 60% (to 42 million tonnes), primarily due to the dynamic growth of supplies to friendly countries.
Kuznetsov added that “Last year, the Russian fertilizer industry, which includes 39 companies, set a historical record by producing 63 million tonnes of fertilizers. Since 2013, when a new investment cycle began in the industry, we have increased production by 60%. Russia provided a third—23 million tons—of the total global increase in fertilizer output.”
