The agreement between Russia and Jordan mutually waiving visa requirements for citizens of the two countries is to come into effect from December 13, the Russian Foreign Ministry has stated.
Russian citizens will be able to travel to and stay in Jordan without having to apply for visas for 30 days, provided that they do not work, study, or permanently reside in Jordan. The total length of visa-free stay must not exceed 90 days during a 365-day period. Citizens of Jordan are also granted similar rights while visiting Russia.
The timing is good news for Russian winter tourists wishing to escape the cold. Jordan has beach resorts and diving facilities at Aqaba and a wealth of ancient buildings and structures dating back to the Pharaonic, Greek, and Roman dynasties.
