Trade turnover between Russia and Kazakhstan has reached nearly US$30 billion, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Kazakhstan, stating that “We planned to reach the US$30 billion figure much later, but we are already practically there.”
Exports from Russia to Kazakhstan primarily consist of machinery, grain, and chemical products. Russia is a significant supplier of grain to Kazakhstan, which is crucial for its agricultural sector.
Russia’s imports include agricultural processed goods such as ice cream, margarine, and rapeseed oils.
Mishustin invited Kazakh businesses to invest in more joint ventures and participate in industrial cooperation across various areas of cooperation with Russia, including within integration associations. He noted that a large number of Russian companies are investing in Kazakhstan, with the total volume of Russian investment reaching nearly US$50 billion. There are over 170 joint ventures between the two countries, spanning various sectors, including energy, mechanical engineering, and agriculture.
A meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council was held in Shymkent on March 26, with Mishustin taking part.
