Russia, North Korea Resume Parcel Post Services

North Korea

Russian Post has announced that it has resumed “parcel shipments” to North Korea, reestablishing a postal connection that has been suspended since 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.

Russian Post carried out several test deliveries in May, and said that individuals and companies can now send packages weighing up to 20 kg. They stated that deliveries from Moscow to Pyongyang will take 15 calendar days. Parcels are first delivered to Vladivostok and then flown by North Korea’s Air Koryo to Pyongyang.

Mikhail Volkov, Russian Posts CEO said that “North Korea is an important strategic partner for Russia and a promising destination for businesses of all kinds. We are pleased to offer domestic companies another opportunity to cooperate with international partners.”

Russia and North Korea have also resumed their direct rail service between Moscow and Pyongyang.
