Russia’s FESCO Transportation Group and Resurs LLC of Chelyabinsk have signed a cooperation agreement on the export of groats to multiple Asian countries, FESCO has stated, saying that “the two parties intend to use FESCO’s logistics capabilities for supplies of products under the Uvelka brand from the Chelyabinsk region for export along major transport routes.”
Cargo shipments will use FESCO’s regular Chelyabinsk Shuttle eastbound container trains from the Formachevo station, part of the South Ural Railway in Chelyabinsk, to Vladivostok, and then via its sea services to countries in South and Southeast Asia. The possibility of organizing container transportation via land border crossings is also being considered.
In January 2024, FESCO sent the first container train with goods as part of the FESCO Chelyabinsk Shuttle eastbound rail service, focused on exporting goods from Russian enterprises to Asian countries. Previously, the group launched the FESCO Chelyabinsk Shuttle service, which involves transporting imported goods from East and Southeast Asian countries to the South Ural region.

Resurs is a major producer of groats in Russia. It has built a production and logistics complex worth more than ₽8 billion (US$95 million) and plans to further increase production by investing another ₽1.2 billion into additional equipment.
Groats are the hulled kernels of various cereal grains, such as oats, wheat, rye, and barley. Groats are whole grains that include the cereal germ and fiber-rich bran portion of the grain. Groats of many cereals are the basis of kasha, a porridge-like staple meal of Eastern Europe and Eurasia. The global groats consumption market is experiencing significant growth, driven by increasing consumer preference for minimally processed, nutrient-dense grains.
