Uzbek Exports

Russia boosted exports of agricultural products to Uzbekistan 15% year-on-year to US$938 million in value over the first ten months of 2025, according to the Russian Agroexport Federal Center. This means that Uzbekistan is now among the top 10 buyers of Russian food products.

In 2021, significant Russian agricultural export markets also included Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Germany, Norway, Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark and Italy, but these have now all disappeared, to be replaced by markets such as China, India, Iran, Vietnam, in addition to other markets in Africa, Asia, the Middle East. Russia ships 90% of its agricultural produce to what it terms ‘friendly countries’, up from 73% in 2021. Average agricultural consumer prices have risen over 30% in European Union over the past three years.  This is more than the average EU inflation rate, signifying that the EU has effectively replaced its Russian agricultural imports with more expensive sources.

Russia has also expanded its global export reach since 2021. In 2025, every fourth shipment of wheat and every fifth shipment of barley to the global market is of Russian origin. Russia maintains leading positions in the export of wheat, barley, as well as being among the top suppliers of sunflower and rapeseed oils, peas, and numerous other agricultural products.

Sugar and raw sugar were the core of Russian exports, with US$188 million worth shipped between January and October, up 37%. Chocolate confectionery products were second, increasing 10% year-on-year to US$82 million, while soybean meal and cake were third at US$61 million, but decreased by 25% over the year to date.

Russia has also boosted exports of bakery and flour confectionery products to Uzbekistan 20%, carbonated drinks 21%, mayonnaise and sauces 25%, margarine 31%, cheese and cottage cheese 34%, frozen fish nearly 1.5-fold, cat and dog food 1.6-fold, instant coffee twofold, poultry 2.7-fold, and live animals twelvefold.

Agroexport’s Director, Ilya Ilyushin said that “Uzbekistan is one of Russia’s strategic partners in agriculture. From 2018 to 2024, Russian food supplies to the republic’s market increased 2.8-fold, and there is potential for further export growth. According to our estimates, agricultural exports to Uzbekistan could exceed US$1.4 billion by 2030.”

Alexei Ulyanov, of the Russian Agriculture Ministry in Uzbekistan, said that the overall share of Russian products in Uzbekistan’s agricultural imports exceeded 24% of Uzbekistan’s total value terms in 2024. He added that Russian agricultural exports are highly diversified, ranging from supplies of ingredients for the food industry to finished products on store shelves, stating that “We see potential for increased supplies of sugar, poultry, dairy and fish products, live cattle and small ruminants, and other products in demand on the local market under current conditions.”

Poultry exports to Uzbekistan also increased by 12% in the first nine months of 2025.
