Aleksandr Zamyatin, the head of the strategic projects implementation direction at JSC GLONASS, has stated that growth of 20-30% in the Russian drone market sector will be achieved due to the “Russification” of equipment and the appearance of competent domestic services. The Russian unmanned aviation market in 2026 may exceed ₽40 billion (US$508 million), demonstrating growth of 20-30% relative to current indicators.
Zamyatin said that the final stage of the Russian national “Unmanned Aircraft Systems” project, which started two years ago, was the main driver for such a significant market expansion. Since this period corresponds to the standard cycle of research and development work, the mass implementation of completed R&D results into commercial and industrial solutions should be expected in 2026.
Market structure, according to Zamyatin’s assessment, will maintain a preponderance towards equipment supply, but the share of services will gradually increase. The ratio between these 508 millsegments is predicted at 74% to 26%. He drew special attention to the trend of import substitution of critical components. As early as next year, the market expects a significant “Russification” of the technical base: Russian analogues will actively replace communication lines, flight controllers, engines, speed regulators, and other avionics.
In November 2025, the Russian Ministry of Transport approved a roadmap for creating a unified identification system for all autonomous transport. The project, initially orientated towards unmanned aviation, was scaled to all transport modes—road, water, and special, such as rovers.
