Russian fertilizer production exceeded 63 million tonnes in 2024, rising 6%-7% year-on-year, Russian Fertilizer Producers Association (RAPU) CEO Andrei Guryev has stated, saying “We will produce more than 63 million tonnes of all types of mineral fertilizers in 2024. This is an absolute record not seen since Soviet times. The absolute growth year-on-year will be around 6%-7%. This is the result of huge investments that were made over the past nine years.”
Fertilizer exports from Russia will reach a record 40 million tonnes this year, he said. Exports of fertilizers to Asia grew 60% YoY in 2024 while supplies to Africa rose 18% and 20% to Latin America.
Fertilizer supplies to the Russian domestic market stood at 5.5 million tonnes.
Guryev said “The investment programs that have been launched will continue in 2025. Construction will not stop. So we will undoubtedly see growth in terms of the gross production of mineral fertilizers in 2025 as well.” Russia has invested ₽2 trillion (US$19 billion) in its fertilizer sector since 2015.
Russia produced 59.3 million tonnes of fertilizers in 2023, according to RAPU’s data.
