Russian Pharma Company To Begin Exports To Afghanistan

Russia’s Pharmasyntez Group is to launch supplies of pharmaceuticals to Afghanistan this summer, the company has stated, after reaching an agreement with the Afghan Health Ministry to begin supplying pharmaceuticals. The first shipments of products are planned to be sent to the Afghan market within the next two months.

Entering the Afghan market will mark a new stage in the development of its international operations. Possibilities for further expansion of cooperation and a gradual increase in supplies are being explored. Nikita Punia, Vice President of Commerce at the company, said, “We see high demand for Russian-made pharmaceutical products and view the start of deliveries to Afghanistan as bolstering the presence of Pharmasyntez Group in the region.”

The groups of medicines planned for delivery have not been specified.

Pharmasynthesis supplies medicines to 13 countries, including the CIS states, as well as Syria, Myanmar, and the Dominican Republic. The company exports more than 130 drugs for the treatment of HIV, tuberculosis, diabetes, and cancer to these countries. During 2026, the company plans to enter the markets of Afghanistan, Venezuela, Vietnam, Morocco, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ecuador, and Mali. The company’s product portfolio includes over 300 medicines and more than 60 pharmaceutical substances. More than 80% of the products are included in the list of vital and essential medicines. The company’s production facilities are located in Irkutsk, Bratsk, Ussuriysk, St. Petersburg, and Tyumen. The annual production volume exceeds 100 million packages.
