Russia increased pork product exports to China by 60% to a value of US$86.5 million in 2025 from US$53.3 million in 2024, China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) has reported. As a result, Russia became one of the top ten suppliers of pork products to China in terms of export revenue.

China imported pork products from 17 countries last year, led by Spain with US$596.5 million, followed by Brazil with US$369.7 million, the Netherlands with US$138.7 million and Denmark with US$135.7 million. Russian exporters have the European suppliers in their sights as Russian pork prices and delivery prices are lower.

Russian pork first entered the Chinese market in April 2024. The National Union of Pig Breeders reported that Russia exported 40,000 tonnes of pork products to China last year. Exports in the first half of 2025 totaled 43,000 tonnes.

Dishes such as Char Sui (Roast Pork) are very popular in China.

Three Russian companies currently have the right to export pork to China, including Miratorg, Rusagro Group’s Tambov Bacon and the Velikoluksky Meat Processing Plant. Miratorg was the first exporter. Applications for clearance to export pork products to China from another seven companies are now under review, Russian plant and animal health watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said.
