Russian Railways Report 0.9% Increase In China Trade In H1 2025

Russian Railways has announced that shipments in export-import traffic through border crossings with China increased by 0.9% in the first 6 months of this year. In January-June 2025, 20.4 million tonnes of cargo were transported by rail in both directions. Exports increased by 1.9% to 19.2 million tonnes.

10.1 million tonnes of export goods were exported through the Zabaikalsk-Manchuria border crossing (+0.2%), 4.5 million tonnes (+8.6%) through Grodekovo-Suifenhe, 3.1 million tonnes (+8.6%) through Nizhneleninskoye-Tongjiang, and 1.3 million tonnes (-26.4%) through Kamyshovaya-Hunchun.

In terms of products, shipments of iron ore increased by 20% to 4.4 million tonnes, paper by 19.3% to 1.9 million tonnes, fertilisers by 2.4 times to 1.1 million tonnes, chemicals by 19.5% to 666,000 tonnes, non-ferrous metals – by 1.8 times to 607,000 tonnes, oil cargo 1.6 times to 524,000 tonnes.

Coal traditionally accounts for a significant volume of export shipments (36.7%). In 6 months, 8.6 million tonnes of solid fuel were shipped to China through border crossings.
