Russia’s sunflower oil producers earned US$1.17 billion from exports to India in the seven-month period January-July 2026, up 34.7% from US$868.8 million during the same period last year, according to the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Export revenues more than doubled from US$54.1 million in June to US$120.2 million in July alone.
In weight terms, shipments rose to 859,000 tonnes in the first seven months, versus 730,400 tonnes a year before. In July, exports reached 85,600 tonnes versus 45,100 tonnes a year earlier.
Russia also exports soybean oil to India. These reached 39,100 tonnes valued at US$47.8 million in 7M 2026.
Russia is India’s biggest supplier of sunflower oil and makes up a large share of India’s imports of this product. The second biggest supplier is Argentina. India imported a total of 2.89 million tonnes of sunflower oil for US$3.46 billion in 2025, compared with 3.74 million tonnes for US$3.7 billion in 2024.
