Russia’s FESCO (Far Eastern Shipping Company) Transport Group shipped over 11,500 TEU between the ports of India and Novorossiysk in the first nine months of 2024 as part of its Indian Line West Marine service, according to German Maslov, Vice President of FESCO’s logistics division has said: “Our transportation volume has increased many times, 57 times, to more than 11,500 TEU. But it should be noted that this is the effect of a low base, we launched this service only a year ago. Of course, this is an indicator of the interest of both Russian and Indian manufacturers in this route.”
According to Maslov, FESCO sent almost 5,500 thousand TEU for export, and over 6,000 TEU for import. “Now our share in this market is about 20%,” he said. In 2022, no TEUs were transported by this route, an indicator of how far Russian supply chains have moved.
According to FESCO analysts, the container shipping market between Russia and India is estimated at 77,000 TEU.
FESCO’s Indian Line West connects the Indian ports of Mundra and Navasheva with Novorossiysk via the Suez Canal and was launched in February 2023. In January this year, the group increased its capacity to more than 1,700 TEU, as well as the frequency of shipments to twice a month due to the installation of a second vessel. In May of this year, FESCO expanded the service route by adding ship calls to the UAE’s Jebel Ali port.
