Russia’s Global Crustacean Exports Up 10% In 2025

Russia boosted crustacean exports by 10% year-on-year to 91,000 tonnes in physical terms, and increased revenues by 13% to over US$2 billion in 2025, according to the Russian Agriculture Ministry’s Agroexport center.

The top 5 importers included China at US$1.2 billion, South Korea at around US$750 million, Japan at over US$33 million, Vietnam at over US$15 million, and Belarus at around US$8 million.

The undisputed export leader is live, fresh, or chilled crabs, worth US$1.5 billion in exports. Frozen crabs at over US$500 million and frozen shrimp/prawns at over US$86 million account for a significant share.

In a valuable and growing global market, China leads the global crustaceans export volume at 908,000 metric tons, followed by India and Ecuador. Other significant exporters include Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia. Russia recorded the highest growth among major exporters at 3.16%, reflecting increasing capacities. Meanwhile, countries like Argentina, Venezuela, and Bulgaria are also showing promising upward trends. Areas to watch include Saudi Arabia, Iran, and North Korea, all posting strong growth rates above 4%.
