Russia’s Sibagro To Begin Pork Exports To North Korea

Russia’s Sibagro Group plans to begin exporting pork to the North Korean market in Q1 this year, the company has announced.

Based in Belgorod, near Ukraine, Sibagro has passed Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) certification and obtained the right to export meat products and offal to North Korea.

Sibagro plans to expand its export area in 2026, including entering the markets of the Philippines, North Korea, and a number of African countries. Pork exports rose 30% year-on-year to 33,400 tonnes in 2025.

Founded in Tomsk in 2000, Sibagro Group is a vertically integrated agro-industrial holding that unites 14 livestock and meat-processing enterprises in the Ural, Siberian, Central, and Far Eastern federal districts.

Pork is the most popular, yet relatively scarce, meat in North Korea, with annual per capita consumption at about 5 kg. While considered a luxury or holiday item, private farming has recently helped increase access. Due to limited supplies, North Korea has seen record, high-volume imports from Russia to meet demand.
