Russian aviation giant United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has signed a deal to supply six Ilyushin Il-114-300 aircraft to India’s Flamingo Aerospace during the Wings India 2026 International Aviation Exhibition at the southern Indian city of Hyderabad on Wednesday (January 28).

UAC stated that “The cooperation program is aimed at meeting India’s growing regional aviation needs. The delivery of six IL-114-300 aircraft will be the first stage.”

As part of the agreement, UAC will provide Flamingo with “a roadmap for the development of aviation competencies.”

UAC will provide assistance to Flamingo to gradually increase the capabilities of aircraft assembly, modification, maintenance, repair, and overhaul, as well as infrastructure development. They added that “The Indian domestic market for regional air travel is huge, and Russia and our manufacturers are very keen to collaborate with Indian partners and to come up with indigenous products.”

India needs over 200 civil jets within the next decade to cater to regional demand and an additional 350 aircraft to serve international destinations in the Indian Ocean region.

In a related development, Russia’s United Engine Corporation (UEC) has said it is ready for serial deliveries of its new TV7-117ST-01 engines for the IL-114-300. The TV7-117ST-01 engine was created at the St. Petersburg company UEC-Klimov.

Evgeny Prodanov, a director of UEC-Klimov, said, “The TV7-117ST-01 service center in Russia is also ready for launch. The experimental TV7-117ST-01 engines in the aircraft have clocked almost 3,000 hours in more than 400 flights.” The TV7-117ST-01 has a maximum takeoff power of 3,100 horsepower and boasts reduced fuel requirements, making it and the turboprop ideal for short-haul flights throughout India.
