Two More Russian Poultry Producers Gain Access To Uzbekistan Markets

Uzbekistan

The State Committee for Veterinary Medicine and Livestock Development of Uzbekistan has granted another two Russian companies the right to import poultry and offal into the country, Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has announced.  The companies are Turbaslinskiye Broilers from Bashkiria and Mega Yurma from Chuvashia, and bring the number of Russian suppliers of poultry products to Uzbekistan to 442.

Turbaslinskiye Broilers is located in the Republic of Bashkortostan and specializes in raising broiler chickens for meat production. The company has been noted for producing a variety of chicken products, including semi-finished products for fast food chains.

Mega Yurma concentrates on poultry slaughtering and processing and poultry & egg production and products such as chicken sausages.

Russia’s poultry exports have been experiencing significant growth, with estimates showing a 24% increase in overall value and a 12% rise in volume during 2024, reaching around 386,000 tonnes. The primary export markets were China, Saudi Arabia, and Kazakhstan, with significant gains also observed in countries like Vietnam and Congo. This growth was attributed to government support, improved export infrastructure, and a favorable exchange rate.

Bird flu (H5N1) has been a problem for many poultry-producing countries, with Russia no exception. However, to combat future outbreaks, Russia has implemented a new compartmentalization system for its poultry industry, which divides farms into categories based on their biosecurity levels, and this has proven to have had successful results when containing outbreaks. This also accounts for the acceptance of Russian poultry in other markets such as Uzbekistan.

Poultry consumption in Uzbekistan is rising, driven by government support for the domestic industry, with per capita consumption reaching approximately 6.47 kg in 2021. The government is encouraging development through tax incentives, investment, and programs to help rural farmers, with a goal of producing 1 million tonnes of poultry meat in 2025. In 2023, Uzbekistan was the 68th largest importer of poultry meat, spending US$71.8 million on it from countries such as Russia and Turkiye.
