Mutual trade in agricultural products between Russia and Egypt increased 7% in Q1 2026, with Russian exports rising 5%, the Russian Agriculture Ministry has said, following discussions between Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut and Egyptian Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Mohamed Farouk.
The basis of Russian supplies traditionally consists of grains and oil and fat products, while imports from Egypt are mainly fruit, vegetables and berries. Trade in mineral fertilizers has significant potential, with trade turnover in this area increasing 1.7-fold last year.
Lut noted Russia’s interest in maintaining a high level of trade relations between the countries and expressed readiness to increase grain exports, the ministry said. An important area of work is the development of cooperation with Mostakbal Misr, a new Egyptian agency that has emerged as a significant player in the importation of wheat and other food products into Egypt, replacing the former state purchasing agency, the General Authority for Supply Commodities. The basis of Russian supplies traditionally consists of grains and oil and fat products, while imports from Egypt are mainly fruit, vegetables and berries. Trade in mineral fertilizers has significant potential, with trade turnover in this area increasing 68% last year.
