Russia Plans To Provide Visa-Access Access To Indonesia, Malaysian and Kuwait Nationals

Russia aims to abolish visa requirements for Indonesian, Malaysian, and Kuwaiti nationals in 2026, according to Nikita Kondratyev, the Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.

She said that “Malaysia and Indonesia are key priorities for this year. We are also expecting Kuwait. These are probably the three countries with which we want to complete the negotiation process this year.”

About 9 million Indonesians travelled overseas in 2025, Malaysia 6.6 million, and about 5.5 million from Kuwait. Most of these were visits to religious sites, such as Haj) as well as visits to other ASEAN and Middle Eastern countries. The total overseas tourism spend from these three countries in 2025 is estimated as being worth about US$30 billion.

Applicants will need to fill out a form on Consular Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry website, complete the form, and upload a photograph. The application should also be made no later than four days before the expected date of entry. The e-visa will be valid for 30 days from the date of issuance.
