Russia’s FESCO Transportation Group has opened a representative office in Jakarta (Indonesia) to develop container shipping and expand its presence in Southeast Asia, according to German Maslov, FESCO’s deputy general director for its Line-Logistics Division. He was speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum.
The representative office will promote the group’s services in Indonesia and neighboring countries, develop cooperation with clients, and launch new container services. Its work will be coordinated by FESCO’s subsidiary in Vietnam, which is responsible for the group’s business development in Southeast Asia.
Maslov said that “Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and one of the most attractive markets in the region in terms of trade and container logistics development, not only with neighboring states but also with Russia. Having our own representative office in Jakarta will allow us to build closer interaction with clients and partners, better understand the needs of the local market, and offer the most effective logistics solutions using FESCO’s broad capabilities. We intend to consistently strengthen our presence in the region.”
Indonesia signed a Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union in December last year. Russia’s bilateral trade with Indonesia reached US$4.8 billion during 2025 and is growing at nearly 22% during 2026, mainly due to the impact of the FTA as well as improved logistics and other trade-related infrastructure.
