China’s Imports Of Russian Pork Up 28.9% In 7M 2026

China’s imports of Russian pork products in January-July 2026, increased 28.9% from the figure for the same period of 2025, reaching a value of US$60 million, according to China’s General Administration of Customs.

As a result, Russia maintained fourth place among the main suppliers of pork to China, just behind the United Kingdom, which sold US$60.5 million of pork to China.

In total, China purchased pork products from 17 countries in January-June. The main suppliers were Spain (US$283.3 million) and Brazil (US$142.4 million).

Russian pork first appeared on the Chinese market in April 2024, after China lifted the ban on importing it the autumn of 2023. The right to supply was initially granted to three companies – Miratorg, Tambov Bacon (Rusagro Group) and Velikie Luki Meat Processing Plant. In July 2026, Kursk Meat Processing Plant were included in the list of exporters.

In 2025, Russia exported pork products to China worth US$86.5 million, up 1.6-fold more than the previous year (US$53.3 million).

China consumes roughly 55 to 60 million tons of pork annually, making it the world’s largest consumer market by a wide margin. It accounts for over 50% of total global pork consumption, with an average annual per capita consumption of about 42 kg.
