Intra-Eurasian Economic Union Trade Expected To Grow By 7.3% During 2026: Kazakh Prime Minister

The trade turnover of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is expected to have grown by 7.3% in 2026, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has stated.

Speaking at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Cholpon-Ata, Bektenov said that “mutual trade continues to remain an important factor of economic growth. Last year, the trade turnover within the EAEU amounted to US$95 billion, having decreased 3.5%. In the current year, a recovery in growth and an increase in this indicator of 7.3% to US$102 billion are forecast.”

The EAEU includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. It fills the geophysical space between Eastern Europe and Western China and has a population of about 184 million.

Bektenov added that despite challenges, the economies of the EAEU member states maintain their stability and potential for further growth and development and that freedom of movement for goods is one of the fundamental principles of Eurasian integration.

The expected growth showcases the EAEU as one of the fastest-growing regions in the world. Comparable trade growth data for the year is as follows, with the World Bank forecasting the global average for 2026 at 3% growth.
