The Moscow Stock Exchange (MOEX) plans to launch trading in futures on the iShares MSCI South Korea ETF from July 9, according to Maria Patrikeyeva, the managing director of the Moscow Exchange’s derivatives market.
She said, “We are launching futures on the iShares MSCI South Korea ETF [exchange-traded funds], which is a tool that grants investors immediate access to the broad South Korean market. The fund comprises 81 companies, including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.” She was speaking at the Smart-Lab conference, which has just finished in St. Petersburg. That was a major gathering for private investors, traders, and corporate representatives.
MOEX also plans to launch separate futures trading for shares of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix on July 16. Patrikeyeva said that “these are two key South Korean technology companies at the center of the global trend of semiconductors, memory, and AI. Investors will be able to choose to trade in South Korea as a country-specific idea through ETFs or focus on the largest technology leaders.”
