Russia Undertakes Assessments Of Wind Farm Potential Across Eurasia

Russia’s Rosatom Renewable Energy has ordered a preliminary assessment of the wind potential at prospective wind farm construction sites in the pre-design stage, the company has stated in its procurement materials statement, which is looking at attract bids from contractors for the work.

According to the statement, Rosatom Renewables are looking at wind farm sites in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, Georgia and Vietnam. The CIS includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan (associate) and Uzbekistan.

As part of its work, the order contractor is to calculate and issue a conclusion on the annual output of the wind farms, the optimal location for the generation facilities within the site and the installed capacity utilization factor. The total capacity of the wind farm for the development of the project is 300 MW.

Rosatom Renewable Energy, formerly NovaWind, was founded in 2017 to consolidate Rosatom’s wind energy assets. The company’s project portfolio in Russia exceeds 2 GW, including the 1 GW commissioned to date.
