Russia boosted its exports of agricultural products to the ASEAN countries by 5% to US$251 million in the five months January-May, the Agriculture Ministry’s Agroexport Center has said.
The largest importers of Russian products in the region were Thailand (37%), Vietnam (36%), the Philippines (12%), Indonesia, and Cambodia (7% each).

Agroexport said that “The potential for cooperation remains significantly higher than current trade volumes. Key objectives include raising business awareness of partner opportunities, developing direct business contacts, and improving the transport and logistics infrastructure between Russia and the countries of the region.”
Corn and wheat comprise 26.5% and 14.0% of ASEAN’s grain consumption. Nine of the ten ASEAN countries reported corn consumption, with the regions strong population and economic growth suggests a high potential as a consumption market for agri- food products.
